The Time of Your Life

Each day,
........ each week,
.................. each month,
........................... each year,
They pass by like snowflakes falling.
Falling peacefully, silently, at times,
Sometimes roaring past with a howling wind.

What difference does a little snow make?
Such a tiny thing, a snowflake.
They float past you as if they don't matter.
They matter. Turn around. Look behind you.
That mountain of snow fell one flake at a time.

Are you playing in the snow?
Do you have sleds, and snowshoes, and boots and gloves?
Get what you need and go out and play!

This is the time of your life.
It is up to you. It matters ?OU matter.

I Woke Up

Many of you know that I take a nap every day. I start work early and I see clients or teach class till late ... so in the middle of every day, I take a nap. Something happened to me last month that has had a profound effect on me. I think I was probably dreaming. I don't know if that matters.

As I lay in my bed, under my huge quilt, I was startled awake. I heard a deep male voice speak very clearly to me. I sat bolt upright and looked around the room. I FELT a presence. I will never forget the words I heard:

"Your life is not an accident.
You built it one choice at a time."

I lay back down and my mind answered calmly, almost automatically,
"Yes, and this one choice I make TODAY will be part of building my future life."


That's all.
Just a comment I heard,
and a comment I thought in response.
I just had to share this experience with you.
It has caused me to feel like today matters. This one choice that I am making now ... it matters.

A Dangerous Myth

Do you believe you are totally responsible for your body size? If you think you only need to try hard enough and you will reach your "goal weight", then you are the victim of a dangerous myth.

Body size is determined by many factors. You do have control of some of these factors (like building a comfortable healthy lifestyle that is not some rigid "program"). You do not have control of many other factors that determine body size (like genetics, past dieting history, medications you take or medical condition). Therefore, you are not responsible for your body size. You are responsible for the lifestyle you build for yourself!

People with healthy lifestyles come in all sizes!

If weight loss is your primary goal, every act becomes an exercise in self-criticism.
When healthy living is your primary goal, every act becomes an exercise in self-nurturing.

The myth that we have the power to control our body size has caused much pain and suffering. Don't be a victim of the myth. Don't teach this myth to others. There is something you can do to stop being a victim of this myth.

Build a comfortable healthy lifestyle
because you deserve to take care of yourself,
NOT to lose weight.

You are responsible for your behavior. You are not responsible for your body size. You can find peace of mind and wellness, whatever size is natural for you. You can encourage others to do the same.
