Healthy Eating Excerpt from Don't Weight
Eating Too Little for Your Body's Needs
If you use controlling your intake of food as a way to meet your emotional needs, if you are or have been told you might be anorexic, I have a special caution for you. If you consistently eat so little food that you do not get adequate nutrition (no matter what your body size), please read the following cautions carefully ... and read them again often.
You REALLY need to pay attention to yourself. Listen to the expert on you. Listen to yourself. Notice what helps you to eat nutritiously and take better care of yourself. Notice what makes it more difficult to eat your nutritious foods. You will find some of the concepts and exercises in this chapter NOT useful to you. If you are or might be anorexic, if you consistently avoid eating enough nutritious foods for your body's basic needs (no matter what your body size), do not use anything in this chapter that gets in the way of nutritious eating. Use everything that helps you take care of yourself and fuel your body with food. You have the right and the responsibility to build a healthy lifestyle. You deserve it.
