Getting Started With Your Workout Video or DVD

Another challenge is how to get started using your videos even when you have them sitting on the shelf. Sometimes people buy a video and have difficulty getting started using it. This is a technique that has worked with countless clients. It may work for you. This is a silly - yet very effective - way to get started. DON'T DO THE EXERCISES. Yes, that is what I said. If you have been resistant to doing the exercise video, then stop pushing yourself. Don't DO the exercises. See if you can PULL yourself toward moving because you WANT to move (instead of pushing with willpower.) I suggest you get a nice drink and sit down and WATCH the video workout. This is a much smaller task. It is much more doable. When you see the workout, you will probably be motivated to participate. Or maybe this time you will watch the entire workout. This may be just the reassurance you need to set aside your fears about the workout. Next time you will know what to expect and it may be easier to get up and move. (Note: if you can tell the workout is not the appropriate intensity, get a different workout so that you can FEEL comfortable.
